To help boost the budget, Dodge City Community College has had to cut from the budget about two percent, according to Dodge City Globe.
Due to the budget being condensed, DCCC will look to cut a few programs, DCCC President Richard Burke told the Globe.
Also in the Globe, a list of potential cuts for fiscal year 2010 will include a list of open positions for 60 days, reducing staff and cutting funding for new programs and marketing.
Because of the budget cuts, the contract of Associate Professor of Journalism Lionel Tipton was not renewed for the next semester.
As a way to save money, DCCC is looking to reduce circulation of the school paper. The fate of the paper is still left undecided.
Tipton said that the rising printing costs had reduced the Conquistador's weekly printing by 200 issues this year.
This will be the last issue published of the Conquistador.
The best records we have show that The Conquistador has been around since at least 1938.
As of now, the Conquistador will be published via the Internet and will be available for anyone who is interested, right here on:
www.conqonline.com.
